Dancing Ground is excited to announce that Kooii will be on stage and playing up a storm, set to have us dancing into Saturday night.

Kooii’s music generates and frees movement on multiple levels of being.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1198″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The cultivation of their music reflects the actions of a masterful gardener collecting seeds and clippings of the rhythms and songs that he is drawn to for their medicine and nourishment.  They come from the musical cultures from around the globe and the ones that are rooted in his soul.  African music, jazz and reggae music are the predominant mother cultures.

Much of the song ideas blow from the being of the group’s lead singer/trumpeter but it is the nature of these songs combined with the way the members of the group together bring them to life and shine their individual essence that make Kooii such an enthralling and enlivening band to experience.  People have come to love their music drawn to it’s body dissolving rhythm, sound, message and it’s never-failing ability to harmonize and uplift.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1166″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Recent highlights in their performance history have been appearances at last  year’s Splendour in the Grass, the Malasimbo Festival in the Philippines, the 2012 Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival, and opening for Seun Kuti’s 2012 Brisbane Show.

In addition to 2012’s ‘Call Out’ Ep, Kooii has made two albums “In This Life” (2010), a stunning album that follows their landmark debut “Beads On A String” (2005).
